Greater Lake Worth Society Builds Community Connection Across an Underserved Central Palm Beach County Corridor

New community platform addresses the visibility, communication and human-connection needs of residents and businesses throughout the Greater Lake Worth area

LAKE WORTH, Fla. — August 18, 2026 — After conversations with more than 100 local business owners revealed a shared need for greater visibility, communication and community connection, Dr. Karina Felix founded the Greater Lake Worth Society to help bring together the residents, businesses, professionals and organizations of a largely unincorporated area of Central Palm Beach County.

Residents throughout the area often have difficulty discovering the businesses, services, events and community resources located close to home. At the same time, local business owners face their own challenge: finding consistent and meaningful ways to reach the people who live and work nearby.

The Greater Lake Worth Society was created to help close that gap by providing opportunities for people to meet, develop genuine relationships and strengthen the local community together.

“Residents want to know what is available around them, and businesses want to connect with the people they are here to serve,” Felix said. “Both groups told me, in different ways, that something was missing. The Greater Lake Worth Society grew from the recognition that neither side can thrive without the other.”

    Defining an Underserved Community

Felix coined the name Greater Lake Worth to create a unifying community identity for the predominantly unincorporated area of Central Palm Beach County associated with the Lake Worth Road Corridor.

For the purposes of this initiative, Greater Lake Worth generally encompasses the area from Interstate 95 west to State Road 7/US 441 and from Forest Hill Boulevard south to Hypoluxo Road.

Greater Lake Worth is not an official municipality, postal district or governmental designation. It is a community identity created to bring greater recognition, visibility and connection to the residents, businesses and organizations located throughout the broader Lake Worth Road Corridor.

Although incorporated municipalities and established neighborhoods exist within or alongside this corridor, much of the area is unincorporated and governed directly by Palm Beach County. It does not have one municipality, city center or dedicated chamber of commerce representing the entire area as a unified community.

Lake Worth mailing addresses, ZIP codes and commonly used place names can also create confusion about where one community ends and another begins. As a result, many residents may not realize how many businesses, professionals, organizations and community resources are located nearby.

“We are not trying to replace any existing city or neighborhood identity,” Felix said. “We are recognizing an underserved and interconnected community that already exists and giving it a platform through which people can see, support and connect with one another.”

    Rebuilding Human Connection

The Greater Lake Worth Society is intended to be more than a conventional business-networking group or chamber of commerce. It provides welcoming and enjoyable opportunities for residents, business owners, professionals and community leaders to meet face-to-face and form meaningful relationships.

After the COVID-19 pandemic moved so much of daily and professional life online, Felix believes people are once again seeking genuine human interaction—friendly faces, shared experiences, new friendships and a stronger sense of belonging.

“Traditional networking often focuses on exchanging business cards,” Felix said. “We want to create an environment where people can relax, enjoy themselves and build genuine relationships. People support businesses they know and trust, and that trust begins when they have opportunities to meet one another.”

    Three Platforms, One Community Vision

The Greater Lake Worth Society is one part of a broader community ecosystem being developed through Affidian Publishing, Media and Marketing.

Greater Lake Worth Society creates opportunities for in-person connection, relationship-building and community participation among residents, businesses, professionals and organizations.

Greater Lake Worth Living will expand that connection through print and digital storytelling, providing local people, businesses, organizations and events with a dedicated platform for greater visibility. Its inaugural October/November 2026 issue is currently in development, with additional information about the magazine and its launch to be announced soon.

The Affidian Institute Foundation serves as the charitable and educational component of the ecosystem. Its areas of focus include small-business education, youth entrepreneurship and guidance, and local business and economic development.

Through educational programs, mentorship, practical resources and community partnerships, the Foundation seeks to help young people, aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners develop the knowledge, confidence and connections they need to build sustainable paths toward success.

Together, the three platforms are designed to help create a more visible, informed, connected and economically supported Greater Lake Worth community.

    Experience Behind the Vision

Felix brings more than 30 years of experience in marketing, public relations, publishing, media production, education, entrepreneurship and public engagement to the initiative.

Her professional journey began in Aruba, where she worked as a professional dancer, became Miss Aruba and represented the island at the 1989 Miss Universe pageant. She later founded Profile Marketing & PR Agency in Aruba before moving to the Turks and Caicos Islands, where she opened a dance studio and created a children’s activity program.

After moving to Palm Beach County in 2008, Felix became involved in local education and community leadership while raising her children. She served as a substitute teacher with the School District of Palm Beach County, as a PTO vice president for five years and as a vice president of her homeowners association. [HOA]

In 2009, she established Affidian Inc., doing business as Affidian Publishing, Media and Marketing. Her first Florida publication, The Dance Magazine of Florida, later evolved into World of Dance Magazine and then DANZ’N. The publication became a connecting platform for Florida’s dance community, helping studios, educators, performers, universities and competition companies reach one another.

Following the disruption of the dance and events industries during the pandemic, Felix continued her personal and professional evolution by earning bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in Metaphysical Science. Her background now brings together the perspectives of a metaphysicist, serial entrepreneur, educator, publisher and lifestyle strategist.

Felix sees the Greater Lake Worth initiative as a natural continuation of a career spent identifying unmet needs and creating platforms that connect people.

“I believe that when we recognize a need and have the ability to make a meaningful difference, we should be willing to step forward and do our best,” Felix said. “Greater Lake Worth is filled with extraordinary people, businesses and stories. This initiative is about helping them discover one another and helping the broader community discover them.”

Media Invited to Greater Lake Worth Society Happy Hour

Felix will host the fourth monthly Greater Lake Worth Society Happy Hour on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
